Windows 10 End of Support

On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will end updates and support for the Windows 10 operating system.
This means Windows 10 will no longer receive the following:

  • Security updates: Including security patches for viruses and malware
  • Feature updates: Including improvements, enhancements, and new features
  • Technical support: Microsoft technical assistance will no longer be available for Windows 10

If you are currently using Windows 10, Microsoft recommends you upgrade to Windows 11 or purchase a new PC. See Microsoft's recommendations here: End of support for Windows 10

You can still use Windows 10 after October 14, 2025 — but it’s not safe.

What should you do?

  • Upgrade to Windows 11: If your device is eligible, upgrading to Windows 11 will continue to provide you with a secure experience.
  • Consider Extended Security Updates: Microsoft offers paid Extended Security Updates (ESU), which allow security updates for a limited time (1 year) after the official end-of-support date (October 14, 2025).
  • Purchase a new PC: Another option to continue with an up-to-date and secure operating system is buying a new device that can run Windows 11.

How will this affect Neat products and users?

The Neat Web App (app.neat.com) available by signing into your account at app.neat.com, will continue to work as usual. However, if accessed from Windows 10 after October 14, 2025, your browsing experience will no longer be as secure.

Neat Scanner Drivers may need to be reinstalled after upgrading to Windows 11 and will definitely need to be installed on new PCs. Drivers can be downloaded here. Note: All Windows 11 computers use the 64-bit driver.

The Neat Desktop Application, like the scanner drivers, may need to be installed on a new computer. Download the Neat Desktop Application here.

The Neat Mobile Application will not be affected since it runs on Android and iOS, but not Windows.

Retired Legacy Software, Neat 5 or older, is unlikely to work in Windows 11 if it can be installed at all. This software reached its end-of-life status in 2017. Continued use runs an increasingly higher risk of permanent and unrecoverable data loss. You should act immediately to recover data before it is lost. See your options below:

Option 1: Migrate your data to the Neat Cloud and sign up for a Neat Cloud subscription
Experience everything Neat has to offer. Organize your finances, save time, and save money by safely and securely storing your most essential documents in the Neat Cloud solution. This option requires that your data is migrated to the Neat Cloud.

    Neat Cloud features:
    • Capture and access all your documents from anywhere (included Neat Mobile app)
    • Unlimited cloud storage
    • Data parsing and smart categorization
    • Easily filter and search for documents
    • Bank-level data security and encryption
    • Support for all your questions

All current Neat Legacy Desktop software (Neat 5 & Neat for Mac) users are eligible to upgrade to the Neat Cloud. The Neat Cloud solution requires a paid subscription.

Option 2: Migrate your data to the Neat Cloud and archive your Neat Data
If you are not looking to purchase a full Neat Cloud subscription but would like to save and secure your Neat Legacy data in the Neat Cloud, then you should consider purchasing a NeatVault plan. NeatVault lets you store your valuable data with bank-level security encryption at a fraction of the cost. This option requires that your data is migrated to the Neat Cloud.

Option 3: Export your data out of Neat Legacy to your computer or other storage solution
If moving your data to the Neat Cloud is not for you, then at the very least, you should move your data out of the Neat Legacy software to save it. You can export your Legacy data out of Neat to PDF files on your computer hard drive using the steps below:

Bottom line:
  • If you’re on Windows 10 → plan to upgrade before October 14, 2025.
  • If you’re using old Neat software → move your data now to avoid losing it.
